🥬 Ingredients
- 500 g fresh spinach (or 400 g frozen, thawed & drained)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1½ cups milk
- ½ cup heavy cream (optional but recommended)
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prepare spinach
- If using fresh spinach, sauté briefly until wilted.
- Drain well and squeeze out excess water.
- Chop roughly.
- Make creamy sauce
- Melt butter in a pan.
- Add onion and cook until soft.
- Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in milk and cream.
- Cook until thick and smooth.
- Season
- Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Mix in half of the cheese.
- Combine
- Fold spinach into the sauce.
- Transfer mixture to a buttered baking dish.
- Bake
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
