Comforting Cabbage and Bacon Delight

Ingredients:

  1. Cabbage (4-5 leaves, whole or shredded)
  2. Bacon (about 1 lb, cut into chunks)
  3. Onion (1 medium, chopped)
  4. Garlic (2 cloves, minced)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the cabbage: If using whole leaves, carefully remove and blanch them in boiling water for 2 minutes to soften.
  2. Cook the bacon: In a large pan, fry the bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving a little bit of bacon fat in the pan.
  3. Sauté the onion and garlic: In the same pan, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic in the leftover bacon fat until fragrant and golden brown.
  4. Layer the cabbage and bacon: In a slow cooker or large pot, layer the cabbage, followed by the sautéed onions and bacon. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  5. Slow cook: Cover and cook on low for about 4-5 hours or until the cabbage is tender and the flavors have melded together.
  6. Serve: Enjoy this simple yet flavorful dish in a bowl, perfect with crusty  bread for a complete meal.
