Chicken Shank Stew with Creamy Sauce and Bulgur Pilaf

Ingredients

For the Chicken Stew:

2 chicken shanks

Salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

1 teaspoon curry powder

1 tablespoon olive oil (for marinating)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon butter

1 medium onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 large tomato, chopped

200 ml grated tomatoes (about 3/4 cup)

100 ml broth (chicken or vegetable)

1 tablespoon flour

150 ml cream (heavy or cooking cream)

1 teaspoon mustard

1 teaspoon paprika

Additional salt and pepper to taste

For the Bulgur Pilaf:

1 cup bulgur

1 teaspoon salt

1 small red onion, chopped

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon butter

1 carrot, grated

1 cup mushrooms, chopped

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon Italian herbs

2 tablespoons chopped green onions

2 tablespoons chopped parsley
